I always believed that Hаllоweеn is a terrible holiday. Could ghosts, witches and demons be Christian? The answer is clear, so I made a decision: no traditional Hаllowеen party at our Christian school. I made a list of rules and made an announcement: «This Year, we'll celebrate All Saints' Eve! And there will be no ghosts or monsters. Do some research, make your own costumes and do your best to look like real Christian saints."

I calmed down and imagined white robes, golden halos and smiling faces. I was sure I'd done the right thing.

"Hello? Is anyone here?"

Suddenly, I heard a strange noise. Something was dragging across the floor. I tried to make out a figure at the end of the corridor. It wore a white robe. But in the dark it seemed to have no head. It slowly made its way to me, holding something round and bloody. It was a human head. I tried to make a sound, but fear stole my voice.

"Good evening, Mrs. Brown" - It said politely.

The creature had a voice like Thomas’, one of my students.

Before I could speak, a pale girl appeared behind the figure. She was smiling and holding a silver plate with two human eyes on it.

"Would you like to take a closer look?" - she asked.

However, the sight of it already made me feel sick.

Suddenly, the lights went out. Someone was making a terrible groaning noise. When emergency light came on, I saw a boy near the stairs. His shirt was in blood, and there was an arrow, sticking out of his chest.

"Help me," he cried.

Then a deep voice came from somewhere. I looked at the stairs and saw a huge creature with four wings and four faces: a man, a lion, an ox and an eagle.

It was really hard not to fall down on the floor. I just wanted to wake up and see my room with no monsters. And I had one big question: what happened? Why did my students look like these hideous creatures? I’ve never seen anything like this at any Наllоwеen celebration.

"Mrs. Brown? Are you all right?" - these ugly creatures and, unfortunately, my students asked.

"What have you done to my school?!" - I asked in my turn.

"But we did exactly what you asked!" said Thomas.

"What I asked?!" - I knew that even in my worst nightmare I couldn't create such a crazy idea.

"We did our homework, made our costumes and made sure every detail was correct! I'm Saint Denis. " - he said, raising his head.

"I'm Saint Lucy. " - said the girl with the eyes on the plate.

"And I'm Saint Sebastian." - said the boy with the arrow.

"And what about you?" - I asked the student who was looking like a weird creature.

"I'm a cherub from the Book of Ezekiel. I made the wings myself! Did I do a good job?"

"But this is monstrous!"

"No, Mrs. Brown." - Thomas said seriously. - "It's a Christian tradition."

For a long time nobody spoke.

"We didn't mean to make trouble," suddenly said Lucy.

"No, children. You've done nothing wrong. I think I've made a terrible mistake. Next Year, I understand it would be not so frightening to celebrate Наllowееn like usual."

"With ghosts and skeletons?" - asked my students.

"Of course."

For some reason, this way with saints frightened me most.
